Zahidur Rahman | Product Lead for Rigs and Transportation & Installation (T&I) Engineering, Longitude UK
What does your day-to-day look like at Longitude?
My day-to-day at Longitude is mostly focused around managing projects in our rigs engineering team, working with colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver for our clients, whilst keeping an eye on future workload as well through proposal and business development activities.
What inspired you to join your industry?
I was inspired to join the industry as I wanted to do something that utilised my skills in maths and science. I’m also fascinated by ‘tech’ and how it can be used in a modern world, so engineering was always a good fit for me. Working in an industry that is contributing to how the UK handles the energy transition is a bonus.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
At the moment, I am involved in completing execution of work related to an offshore windfarm construction in Asia Pacific. The project is unique in many respects and I’m looking forward to its successful completion.
What does the future look like in energy and oceans?
I think the future is exciting. We are in a part of the world that has led the way in adoption of renewable forms of energy, and I see that trend continuing, diversifying and growing. 
What do you enjoy most about working as part of the ABL Group team in the UK?
Mostly I enjoy the atmosphere in the office. I work in London, which is ABL Group’s global operational headquarters. As such we have a good representation from almost all parts of ABL Group and it is real melting pot of different teams, expertise and always makes for interesting conversations. It is also conducive to great collaboration between companies, enabling us to offer our clients integrated through-life technical offerings to support with their offshore energy projects and assets.
