Longitude expands UK presence to better serve growing Offshore Renewables and Maritime market in the North East
LOC Longitude has opened a new office in Newcastle, its fourth UK office and seventh globally. This office will host specialist Geotechnical, Geological, Naval Architecture and Marine Systems Consulting Engineers in order to better serve its growing client base in the region.
Longitude, part of LOC Group, has built a formidable reputation as the premier international marine and engineering consulting firm in the shipping, renewables and oil & gas sectors and this office opening demonstrates the Company’s continued growth. North East England remains a key strategic location for the offshore renewables sector. A number of companies are based in the area, due to the extensive port facilities, the skilled local workforce and the support for future Offshore Wind Farm developments. It is also a thriving manufacturing centre with shipyards and specialist equipment suppliers working across many maritime sectors including commercial shipping and defence. This office will therefore enable Longitude to better serve this growing and increasingly important UK industry, supporting the renewables, shipping and oil and gas sectors.
The office will be manned by Catherine Bradley and Cara Watson, specialists in Offshore Renewables, and Jonathan Land, a specialist in ships and offshore construction projects. In their respective roles as lead Geotechnical Engineer and Engineering Geologist, Catherine and Cara have over fifteen years’ experience in Offshore Renewables. Jonathan Land is an experienced Naval Architect, with extensive knowledge in the design and analysis of marine structures. There are plans to expand the Newcastle office in due course, with the end goal being to house a strong local multi-discipline team, supported by the other Longitude UK offices.
R V Ahilan, CEO of LOC Group, commented:
“The opening of our Newcastle office demonstrates Longitude’s success in expanding its presence in the UK’s burgeoning Offshore Renewables sector. The office has a strong team in place and is well positioned geographically execute projects and develop close partnerships with universities and other organisations in the industry.
