The Golok Gas field is located offshore Sarawak, Malaysia and the development included the installation of two platforms (GOPA and GOPB). The Sarawak Gas project includes the installation of two platforms (SEPA and MEPA) in the vicinity of the Golok field.
Longitude were instructed to design and prove by simulation a deck float-over system for the installation of four decks weighing around 1,100 tonnes. The system Longitude designed consisted of a skid-able grillage mounted on a barge with a slot at the end upon which the deck was positioned. The barge would then mate onto the jacket using a fendering system designed to reduce heave motion and hydraulically skid and lower the deck onto the jacket. Longitude prepared the structural design and analysis of the grillage, and undertook detailed installation simulations using time domain analyses.
