Osprey provided a moored barge to act as a floating terminal and a transportation barge to carry wind turbine generator components for the construction of Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farm.
Longitude was instructed to prepare a mooring design for the terminal barge which would resist the extreme weather conditions without a barge alongside, and operational weather conditions with a transportation barge alongside. Longitude prepared hydrodynamic models of the two barges, connected the terminal barge to the seabed with steel wire mooring lines and connected the barges with polyester mooring lines. The analysis was conducted using a quasi-static approach in accordance with appropriate mooring standards.
