About the project
The project involved the provision of engineering services by Longitude USA and Brazil – formally known as Proper Marine, for the dry transportation of FPSO modules (P-80 and P-83) from the BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis, Brazil, to an integration yard in Singapore.
Each FPSO project consisted of twelve modules, transported in multiple campaigns using three Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs).
Our scope of work
Longitude provided:
- Document review
- Client, HTV and shipyard coordination and interface to finalise stowage plans
- As-built drawings and design of grillage and seafastening for each modular transportation
- Structural calculations and drawings for approval by the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS)
- Address to MWS comments
- Site attendance during loadout and seafastening
Challenges faced on the project
- Coordination between multiple parties – client, shipyard and vessel owners
- Managing MWS approval and possible design revisions
- Limited design/review cycles before extra costs apply
- Logistics for site attendance and travel
- Need for timely, accurate technical data from all stakeholders
