Offshore supervision project at UMS Venus for SBM Offshore
About the project
Proper Marine – now Longitude Brazil – was contracted by SBM Offshore to oversee offshore activities and provide onshore support on the UMS Venus, supporting three units:
- FPSO Cidade de Paraty
- FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela
- FPSO Espírito Santo
The project commenced in May 2023 and concluded in January 2024.
The scope of activities included:
- Daily monitoring of the Flotel gangway connection rate with the platform
- Control of flights, aircraft, and companies contracted during the campaign
- Daily POB (Persons on Board) control
- Daily monitoring of UMS consumables
- Management of the logistics for the disposal of Flotel waste equipment in conjunction with the contracted third-party company
- Daily reports for SBM managers

The challenge consisted of managing operations on the UMS Venus, ensuring that activities were carried out in accordance with the requirements and expectations of SBM Offshore.
Proper Marine focused on establishing effective internal communication to maximize results in operations and team management, as well as overseeing operations performed on the platform and the flotel, which was connected to the platform by a bridge called a gangway.
