Petroleum Marine Services: Subsea Well Activation | Case Study | Longitude
Phase X of Egypt’s West Delta Deep Marine Concession, Burullus Gas Field
Significant gas volumes have been discovered in numerous fields and reservoirs within the WDDM. These reservoirs have been progressively developed to maintain current and future gas supplies to the Egyptian domestic market and the Egyptian Liquefied Natural Gas plant.
The aim of the Phase X subsea development is to bring online three subsea wells, ranging in water depths from 450m to 660m, to supplement the existing 70 wells currently operational. Upon their completion, these wells serve to safely maintain current and future gas supplies.
Scope of work
Throughout this project, Longitude’s objectives for the client, were threefold:
- Maximise profit and production efficiency of the field development
- Remove unnecessary operational expenditure and downtime
- Protect their people, plant, and the wider local environment
Longitude’s deliverables included:
- Vessel Suitability and Assurance for Cable Laying Operations
- Mud Mats Design, Assurance Drawings and Reports including Installation Analysis
- Design Cable Routing, Crossing, and Installation Analysis
- Jumper Detailed Design including Lifting and Deployment Analysis
- Develop Project Safety Studies including, HAZOP/HAZID/SIMOPS/QRA
Results
As the requirements of offshore projects deepen in complexity, Longitude’s reputation and global experience in subsea and marine engineering proves invaluable, helping to support the long-term safety, reliability, and efficiency of offshore projects.
Longitude worked alongside its sister company – ABL, the energy and marine consultants, based in Cairo, Egypt – to support and facilitate the marine assurance scope of work with local marine surveyors.
