New Greenpeace Vessel
Longitude supported Greenpeace with a range of ship design services including alternative fuel design and engineering.
About the project
Engineering consultancy and ship designer Longitude Engineering have recently completed a project to provide alternative fuel systems engineering for a ground-breaking new vessel design by Dykstra Naval Architects, for Greenpeace International.
Scope of Work
- Designed alternative fuel systems for green hydrogen and e-methanol.
- Engineered hybrid propulsion power systems for emissions-free operation.
- Integrated battery storage and solar PV for renewable energy use.
- Developed onboard marine systems to support sustainable technologies.
- Collaborated with Dykstra Naval Architects on vessel systems integration.
- Contributed specialist expertise to enable full zero-emissions capability.
Results
- Enabled design of a fully emissions-free, 75m Greenpeace vessel.
- Integrated multiple green technologies into a cohesive energy system.
- Supported development of one of the world’s most sustainable ships.
- Demonstrated the viability of alternative fuels for high-seas operations.
- Advanced innovation in zero-emissions marine propulsion.
- Strengthened Longitude’s position as a leader in clean ship design.
