Service Introduction
Longitude has produced detailed design processes for all types of offshore marine transportation and installation engineering operations, from jackets and topsides through to FPSO moorings and modular plants, and offshore wind installation.
Our installation engineering has been delivered using a range of marine fleet types, from tugs and barges to DP construction vessels, heavy lift ships, jack-ups and module carriers. Longitude has also supported the development of vessel designs for floatover operations, cable lay and decommissioning operations.
Installation Engineering Market Challenges
- Increasing weight and size of equipment:
requires more complex design and engineering solutions to safeguard assets. - Climate change and hostile sea states:
as meteorological conditions worsen with climate change, forensic understanding of metocean data and informed design decisions are crucial. - Cost pressures:
maritime and offshore energy projects are under constant pressure to reduce costs incurred from delays and/or damages. Detailed installation engineering provides advanced risk mitigation for future operations. - Sustainable development:
there are growing calls to decarbonise the wider marine transportation and installation (T&I) value chain, as well as ensuring that offshore construction is delivered sustainably, minimising damage to the local ecosystem.
